Will wheat straws become new market trend?

when the pollution problem of plastic products is getting worse, the ban on plastics seems to be expected. We consume an average of 30 straws per person each year, which shows how popular the straws are by consumers. The habit of using straws is difficult to change for a while. After the ban on plastic straws, this vacant market will give birth to new business opportunities

Plastic straws will be banned! Will "biodegradable straws" such as reeds and wheat straws become new market trend?

In fact, people have already begun to study alternatives straws to plastic straws. biodegradable straws have appeared now, their cost is only three times that of plastic straws. Cost is always the biggest issue. The next thing we need to do is to see if there is a cheaper alternative to plastic straws.

Some people in Shandong use wheat stalks to replace straws, and the monthly sales volume can reach 1 million at most. We know that wheat stalks are waste. The amount of seeds planted per acre of wheat is about 15 kilograms, and one kilogram of seeds contains about 12,000 grains of wheat. In other words, we can get at least 2700,000 materials for making wheat straws per Hectares

One wheat makes into two straws, and we can make nearly 6000,000 straws per hectares of wheat. There is no cost for wheat straw, and the biggest cost of making wheat straws is the labor cost. It is believed that with the increase in the degree of mechanization of wheat straws, labor costs will also be greatly reduced.

There are two main problems facing the production of biological straw.

First, we lack plant varieties that collect straws

Whether it is wheat stalks, reed stalks or bamboo stalks, to a certain extent, they are not very suitable for making straws. Because the purpose of cultivating these plants for many years is not to make straws, it is very necessary for us to cultivate some plant varieties specifically for the use of stem diameters in the future.

This is a long-term work, and it is difficult to complete this work without the participation of professional researchers.

The limited diameter of wheat stalks is not suitable for drinking straws which need larger diameters, so our reeds and some special varieties of bamboo are actually more suitable for making straws.

The stalks of reeds have strong hardness and the areas where materials are easily available, and their height is higher, we can get more materials for making straws. Not to mention the strength of bamboo is far from comparable to wheat straw and reed straw.

Therefore, we believe that some bamboos are actually more suitable for making straws with larger diameters that can be recycled. This can not only minimize pollution problems, but also increase income for farmers.
